What Is BeatBuddy?

On a Jazz gig, you’d ideally have a fine Jazz drummer listening intensively to every note you play, while interacting appropriately and tastefully. For when such an arrangement is not possible, we have prepared this Jazz Beats Collection for your BeatBuddy.

It is jam-packed with hard-swinging Jazz beats featuring a true Jazz drummer’s ride feel accompanied by simple comping on snare and kick in standard phrasings. Because of its simplicity, the beats will allow you to use them throughout a large selection of standard Jazz songs. These Jazz drum beats were carefully produced by a fine Jazz and all-around drummer, Ludwig Afonso.

The beats start with the simplest of all: just a ride cymbal swing, and progress from there on, getting slightly more complex. Use them as they are, or combine them into your own BeatBuddy songs.

Included in the collection are:

• A total of 212 generic Jazz drum beats, arranged into 106 BeatBuddy songs
• All beats are at a medium tempo
• Authentic Jazz feel and sound
• 27 songs in 4-bar phrase comping on the snare
• 27 songs in 4-bar phrase comping on the kick+snare
• 17 songs with swung Jazz grooves (such as “Poinciana”)
• 13 songs in 16-bar phrases on the kick+snare
• 2 Jazz Shuffle songs
• 2 Jazz Blues songs in the 12-bar phrasing
• 16 songs in 3/4 time signature, 8-bar phrasing
• *bonus song “Take Five” groove in 5/4
• accompanying fills in all sections
• Each song has 2 sections, with identical phrasing, but played on different ride cymbals

This collection utilizes the default Jazz Drumset v2.0. Make sure your drumset is up to date.
